We've never pay such a close attention to the weather before we have babies. A nice weather does mean a lot for kids: they can play outside, enjoy the nature, and exploit the fascinating world. Spring is very nice in Columbus this year, and it's unlike other years which jumps from winter to summer directly. We got some nice photos in parks.
For our kids, Richard can sit very well now. Although his leg is still too weak to support himself for a good stand, this does not affect much on his exploring of the living room and kitchen. He pulls the electric wire out of the wall outlet, and take something out of the trash bin. Also, he starts to demanding for something, or asking for people's attentions, cuddling, or things should not be played by him. If not satisfied, he yells and feels so sad that lets you hard to turn down his demandings. However, he is very sweet and need much less attention than his big brother.
Eric is a big toddler now. For his physical development, he is able to builds a tower out of several blocks; walk up and down stairs, although kinda scary for most parents. Furthermore, he is almost completely toilet trained during the day. It might not be a big news for parents in China, but it is really a big achievement for diaper-wearing kid here. For example, he will tell us for peeing and hold the small potty by himself; and he can even pull down his pants and have a bowel movement on the potty.
For the intellectual development, Eric does very well. He recognized all 26 letters, both capitalized and not capitalized. He also knows chinese characters like "big, small, up, down, rice, knife, oil" etc. I think that the biggest achievement here is that he not only knows the real things surrounded him, but also understands opposites or abstract concepts like "front and back". He even knows how to playing the computer games in Playhousedisney.com! It is so amazing that such a small hand can handle the mouse so well. He is able to make sequential clicks to get to the page he wants, draw lines with mouse, paint with different colors. However, his advanced computer skills also give us lot of troubles. He is so addicted to the computer that we always have to force him off the computer. Also, the computer is so fanscinating that he simply doesn't want to play with toys any more. We have to enforce the rules by limit the time that he plays in front of computer and unplug the computer (he knows how to turn on it). He has a very strong willness to do something as well and will not listern to what we tell him not to do it. I am not sure this is a common problem for most kids or not, but it does cause a lot of trouble for us. If we enforce too much, he simply disobeys everything we tell him not to do.
